The end of the year is fast approaching, and it represents a perfect time to reflect on the events of your year, to step away from the constant stream of work-related hustles that most likely won’t fade just because Christmas is looming; and consider the lessons you believe this year has taught you.
To help us all engage with this reflection (because we at Creative Coaching do it too!) we thought it’d be fun to reference a well-known Christmas song as a guide … here goes:
A Partridge in a Pear Tree
What one thing has changed your view of the world this year?
Two Turtle Doves
What two things will you do differently to help you enter 2018 more peacefully?
Three French Hens
How is the looming Brexit deal (and/or other World change) affecting the comfort of your people, including friends and family? How are you helping them?
Four Calling Birds
What learnings have called to you this year? How much attention have you paid?
Five Gold Rings
Which 5 critical calls (actual phone calls!) have you made this year to invigorate yourself and your business?
Six Geese a Laying
If you could hatch out 6 new objectives for yourself for 2018, what would they be?
Seven Swans a Swimming
It is a leader’s job to provide three things for their people. Here they are, each with a question to answer:
Eight Maids a Milking
The number 8 reminds me of the symbol for infinity – what infinite possibilities are there for you as you think about your personal development through 2018?
Nine Ladies Dancing
I love this image. It reminds me of the importance of dancing in the moment; being resilient to change and knowing that you have what it takes to navigate uncertainty. If you were dancing this dance – how would it be for you?
Ten Lords a Leaping
Take time to relax, recuperate, switch off, be with family, with friends, with yourself across this period so that you can have the energy to leap into the New Year!
Eleven Pipers Piping
I love bagpipes, they are a part of my heritage. They are not to everyone’s taste though. So, if you could imagine your personal theme tune for 2018, to be played to your hearts content, with a pipe band of your choosing as the performers. What will be the instrument of choice for you and what song?
Twelve Drummers Drumming
And finally, what do you intend the rhythm of your 2018 to be? Working out before you start how you want to work, when you want to work and where you’ll be when you’re not working will make it more possible for you to fulfil your wishes…
However, you choose your festive period celebrations to be. Enjoy the time, be well and be happy. Thank you for reading us this year!
